A couple of weekends ago, I only had the energy for a Netflix binge watching weekend. I watched all of Season 9 of Call the Midwife, a favorite of mine. There was one scene where the nurses had to fight back on budget cuts and rent being raised. The midwife that represented the team spoke to City Council members of names versus numbers and read out loud the first names of their patients. Patient advocacy on a macro-level to maintain services, but even in that – the presentation was intimate and personal. As it should be. Our joy…

We think that the point is to pass the test or overcome the problem, but the truth is that things don’t really always get solved. They come together and they fall apart. Then they come together again and fall apart again. It’s just like that. The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen; room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy.
