I found a moment of joy yesterday at work when I was doing casual, unannounced rounds in an infusion area. On the white board was a quote I had sent in an email to all of you months ago and sent to the RCINJ staff Tuesday.
“When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy.”
Rumi
Of course I felt joy that the email I sent had meaning for them because the email was a thank you note for how welcome I have been made to feel. BUT the real ping in my soul was the connection I felt among my Boston colleagues and my New Brunswick colleagues in that moment. The core of nursing practice spans all locations, patient populations and time. As we approach our gathering focusing on transformational leadership, key to the Magnet journey and so many of you may be at the Magnet Conference, I am sharing this thought about Joy as a play on words.
